According to the note, the man killed himself because his relatives were refusing to return Rs10 lakh, which they had borrowed from him a few years ago.

He also accused his relatives of harassing and humiliating him, the police said.

A case was registered under sections 306 (abetment to suicide) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) against the man’s relatives, after his son filed a complaint in the Sector 56 police station on Friday.

“Around 2.15 pm, we received a call that a man had committed suicide. A team from Sector 56 police station was rushed to the spot,” DCP (crime) Rajeev Deswal said. The deceased is suspected to have stood in the balcony for at least 15 minutes before jumping off the rooftop, the police said, adding that one of the residents of the building had seen him on the rooftop. A resident in the society was the first to spot the body. He then informed the guards.

The deceased is survived by his wife and two sons.
