Woman booked for creating fake email id

The city police on Tuesday booked a woman, who had created a fake email account of her estranged husband to retrieve income tax details from the department website, under various provisions of the Information Technology Act. The police are yet to arrest the accused.

The city police on Tuesday booked a woman, who had created a fake email account of her estranged husband to retrieve income tax details from the department website, under various provisions of the Information Technology Act. The police are yet to arrest the accused.

According to the police, the woman had also registered her mobile number in the website to receive SMS alerts of the husband’s tax details from the department. The woman had filed a case against her husband for increasing the alimony.

Cyber crime branch inspector Suresh Kumar said, “The account was created on July 3 and last login was on August 31. We have got the IP address of the computer and place from where the accused had committed the crime.”

The victim has been currently paying Rs. 9,000 monthly maintenance to the woman. Their 11-year-old daughter is putting up with the woman.
