Medical science says that the best age to parent a child is in the mid to late 20s. The early 30s are slowly making their presence felt. With increasing maternal age, the chances of getting pregnant reduce dramatically. The risk of the child being affected with Down’s Syndrome too increase. Few other genetic diseases too are now believed to be linked with increasing parental age.

On the other hand with recent advances, newer methods for enhancing the chances of parenthood at a later age are available.Newer diagnostic procedures allow for early detection of foetal abnormalities and remedies. There’s no strict rule regarding the age of pregnancy or the minimum age difference between the two kids though. The final decision rests with the couple.
