Condom demonstrations

Educationists say that students should get a practical demonstration on how to use condoms.
Education officials in New York have nixed a controversial element from school sex education curriculums, which said that students should get a practical demonstration on how to use condoms.
According to the New York Daily News, it had earlier been proposed that teachers should keep two models of penises or two cucumbers so that children could be taught how condoms are to be put on.
Children as young as 14 were to be given condoms and then they could practise putting it on because according to officials children are often clueless about how condoms are used. But now the practical demonstration has been removed from the curriculum because officials wanted to avoid offending parents.
Teaching how to use condoms is to be a part of the newly updated curriculum, which will also include teaching the children about AIDS and date rape.
Schools have also added a new health program, which will cover kindergarten to the 12th grade and address divorce, alcohol abuse, nutrition, emotional diseases and addictions ranging from alcohol to gambling.
