With new year round the corner and plans for partying and drinking set, hangover is most likely to happen. We tell you how to cure a hangover...

Drink water: Alcohol causes dehydration, so drink plenty of water or oral rehydration fluids. Also drink fresh fruit juices and tomato juice, if possible.

Avoid caffeine: Some people think that having a cup of coffee will help to drive away the hangover which is not true at all. Also, another drink does not help and may only make your hangover worse.

Vitamins help: Take Vitamin C as it increases the rate of alcohol breakdown in the body.

Colour code: Choose light coloured drinks such as white wines, gin, and vodka over dark-coloured drinks such as red wine, bourbon, and rum as the latter increases the risk of a hangover.

Eat lots: Never drink on an empty stomach. Food delays absorption of alcohol and aids the bodystarchy foods to slow down the alcohol absorption. Avoid aspirin and ibuprofen since they serve to increase this irritation. Peppermint may help for an upset stomach.
