Big Fat Indian Wedding wows Richard Gere, Judi Dench on film shoot
Richard Gere and Judi Dench were shooting for an elaborate wedding sequence for the sequel to The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (2011) in Rajasthan when the rituals caught their attention.
Some Indian rituals can be quite fascinating for those who are unfamiliar with the country’s traditions. That’s probably why international actors Richard Gere and Judi Dench seemed so keen on learning all about the customs involved in an Indian wedding.
An insider reveals that the actors were shooting for an elaborate wedding sequence for the sequel to The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (2011) in Rajasthan when the rituals caught their attention.
The makers had erected an extravagant set for the same. “The sequence showed their co-stars, Tina Desai and Dev Patel, getting married. While Richard and Judi watched the ceremony proceed, every now and then, they would lean towards Tina and ask her the significance of certain customs,” says a source.
The insider further informs that Dench and Gere were even seen taking notes about the various rituals and the significance they hold.
Speaking about the experience, Tina said, “They asked questions with such interest. There were times when they were impressed with the rituals, and then sometimes, they were simply amused.”
