Oscars 2016 became a bit awkward when television presenter Stacey Dash was invited by host Chris Rock to wish USA a Happy Black History Month. Dash, who is also a news presenter, had earlier in the year urged everyone to stop celebrating the Black History Month as she thought it was against the American values.

Those presented at the ceremony couldn’t help but raise their eyebrows as Chris Rock introduced Stacey Dash as the “new director of our minority outreach programme” and then a giggling Dash wished everyone a “Happy Black History month.” Chrissy Teigen’s s reaction was perhaps the best .

Twitter too had a field day with many users trolling Dash for her appearance at the ceremony.

Moments later, Dash took to her Twitter to share a link of her blog in which she explained why she came to the Oscars. “When they added ME to increase the diversity, I’m sure many black people rolled their eyes. I’m not ‘black enough,’ they say. But guess what? I’ve heard that all my life. I would rather be a free thinking, black than a cookie cutter black who thinks — and votes — just like all my friends,” read a part of her post.
