The trailer is very minimalist, favouring mood and tone instead of dialogue and action. There’s a little bit about the events preceding the bombing and a hint of what happened after.
Another reason we’re excited about this film is that it’s being scored by the Oscar-winning duo Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. They don’t work in films too often (they’ve scored the last three David Fincher movies, The Social Network, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Gone Girl), so something about the material must have attracted them.
Patriot’s Day looks like a solid crowd-pleasing drama with strong performances and an inspirational story at its centre. Look for it to arrive in theatres on December 21.
