The 65th Cannes International Film Festival kick-started with some serious cinema but the big show was definitely by controversial funnyman Sacha Baron Cohen, who brought the house down with his hilarious double stunts.
Cohen brought the character General Aladeen of Wadiya from his latest flick, The Dictator at the French Riviera. He arrived on a yacht dressed as Aladeen with a bikini-clad woman, who reportedly was actor George Clooney’s ex, Elisabetta Canalis.
Next, he showed up with his camel but fell off its back. He also ordered two coffees at a cafe — one for himself, and one for the camel. Then he went to a store and bought a scarf – again, for the camel. Meanwhile, the fest has stirred up a row for its all male line-up for the top prize.
