Keralam chief minister VD Satheesan said on Friday that eight individuals, including four Australian citizens of Keralam origin, who are stranded in Nepal following the flash floods there are yet to be contacted.

Their details have been forwarded to the Ministry of External Affairs for urgent trace and contact operations, he said.

The CM said that helpline calls regarding 82 persons were received in the state of which 60 are from the state and have been deemed to be safe. Another 14 individuals belong to other states in the country and their details have been forwarded to the MEA and respective State governments.

19 Keralites belonging to a 23-member Kailash Mansarovar Yatra are safe and currently travelling towards Kathmandu, he added.

Norka Roots, the nodal agency for expatriate Keralites, is coordinating operations with the MEA.
