Saikia was heckled by Desai and other women activists when he was being produced before the court in Pune on Tuesday following the expiry of his police custody. The police however prevented Desai and others from getting close to Saikia.
Saikia was later remanded to judicial custody till February 21 by local court.
On January 29, Saikia, who was working as a security guard at the Infosys campus at Hinjewadi IT park, strangled 23-year-old software engineer, Rasila Raju OP. She was found near her workstation with the computer cable around her neck.
According to police officials, Rasila was murdered after she threatened to complain against Saikia for constantly staring at her while she worked in office.
