Actor-turned-politician Ramya has been appointed as the head of the Congress party’s social media team, party sources said.

Ramya, a former Lok Sabha member from Mandya in Karnataka, replaces Rohtak MP Deepender Singh Hooda who had requested the leadership to relieve him of the responsibility.
Ramya, who had contested the Mandya Lok Sabha seat in Karnataka in 2014, lost to CS Puttaraju of Janata Dal (S).
Ramya, 34, will head the 20-member social media team that handles the grand old party’s website (www.inc.in) and the twitter account (@INCIndia).
Her appointment is part of the changes the Congress has been making in its party structure after recent defeats in elections.
Hooda is expected to be given the organisational responsibility and could be made a secretary in the ongoing restructuring process initiated by Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi.
