Assembly Elections 2023 Highlights: Mizoram elections and Chhattisgarh first-phase polls concludes. BJP- Congress set eye on bigger states.

Assembly elections 2023 Highlights: The first phase of the Chhattisgarh election and the single-phase election polls for Mizoram concluded on Tuesday. Mizoram witnessed a voter turnout of around 78 percent across 40 assembly seats, while the polling percentage was nearly 72 percent for 20 assembly constituencies in Chhattisgarh. In the 2018 election, Mizoram had seen nearly 80 percent voter turnout. The first phase of Chhattisgarh polls in 2018, held in 18 constituencies, recorded a voter turnout of 76.42 percent.

‘ It could mean anything’: Mizoram CM on high voter turnout

Speaking to ANI a day after the state recorded a robust voter turnout of 78.40 per cent for the single-phased assembly polls, Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga said, "The elections went off peacefully and hitch-free. For elections in a small state like ours, there isn't much deployment of the police and central force personnel."

"Even if a policeman stands in the corner of a polling booth, it's enough to ensure peaceful elections here. The people don't often acknowledge this," the chief of the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) told ANI.

"Owing to some issues with EVMs, polling in some seats continued till 9 pm. Hence, I don't have information on the exact voting percentage. But it must have been close to 80 per cent, as per my estimate," the CM added.

Final integrated photo voter lists published for all Rajasthan constituencies
