BJP MLA Kuldeep Sengar named accused in CBI chargesheet in Unnao gangrape case

The CBI on Wednesday filed its charge sheet in the Unnao gangrape case, naming BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar as an accused, officials said.

The CBI on Wednesday filed its charge sheet in the Unnao gangrape case, naming BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar as an accused, officials said.

Sengar is accused of raping a teenager at his residence on June 4 last year when she had gone with a relative seeking a job.

Sources said the charge sheet was filed before the special CBI court in Lucknow and names Sengar and his associate Sashi Singh as accused in the case.

Faced with embarrassment, the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh recommended a CBI probe in the matter in April this year.

A purported video of the girl’s father before his death had gone viral in which he had alleged that he was mercilessly beaten up, including with rifle butts, by the MLA’s brother and others in the presence of police.
