“I don't want to make a comment on this, but the BJP never initiated anything that may stir up a controversy or create a situation of uncertainty. JD(U) will make a decision but BJP definitely wants Nitish Kumar to continue as CM,” Kishore told news agency ANI.

The BJP MP from Uttar Pradesh's Mohanlalganj constituency added that his party would want that Bihar's current NDA coalition government continues to work strongly under the leadership of Kumar.

“This is in the interest of Bihar, as well as the nation,” said Kishore.

According to reports, Kumar will meet Bihar governor Phagu Chauhan at 4pm to resign as chief minister, and, subsequently, stake claim to form government with the Mahagathbandhan (RJD, Congress and Left). RJD leader and leader of opposition in the Bihar assembly, Tejashwi Yadav, will accompany Kumar to the Raj Bhavan.

The ongoing crisis in the state come nearly five years after Kumar, in July 2017, left the Mahagathbandhan to join hands with the BJP. This took place despite the alliance emerging victorious in the 2015 assembly elections, with the senior leader becoming the chief minister and Tejashwi, his deputy.
