2 FIRs against Brij Bhushan Singh as wrestlers protest

Two FIRs were registered in the Connaught Place police station on Friday night against Wrestling Federation of India chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, a BJP MP. The Delhi Police earlier in the day informed the Supreme Court which was hearing a petition filed by the protesting wrestlers against Singh that it will file an FIR against Singh, the accused in the sexual allegation charges. Attari stadium at Indo-Pak border gets digital portrait of Mahatma Gandhi

A digital portrait of Mahatma Gandhi was installed at Attari open stadium at the Indo-Pak border here on Friday.

SC commutes death penalty of man convicted of murdering two including sister

The Supreme Court on Friday commuted to life imprisonment the death penalty awarded to a man who had murdered his sister and her lover in 2017, observing he has been found to be "well-behaved" and without a criminal mindset.

A bench headed by Justice B R Gavai delivered its verdict on the appeals filed by two convicts, one of whom was awarded death penalty while the other was sentenced to life imprisonment. They had challenged the December 2021 judgement of the Bombay High Court. (PTI)

Poland announces $2.4 bn air defence deal with Europe's MBDA: official

Poland's armament agency on Friday announced it had signed a £1.9-billion ($2.4-billion) air defence deal with the UK arm of Europe's MBDA, which will provide missiles and missile launchers.

The government agency said the deal concerns "the supply of 44 iLaunchers and several hundred CAMM missiles as well as accompanying equipment", which MBDA said constitutes "the largest European short-range air defence acquisition programme in NATO". (AFP)
