Delhi to witness mock drill at 8 PM today | Dos and don'ts to keep in mind

Delhi will conduct a mock drill on Thursday, April 2, as announced by the Directorate of Civil Defence. During this exercise, residents across the national capital are expected to hear air raid sirens and follow blackout protocols.

As per the notice, the mock drill will be active from 8 PM onwards.

Residents have been advised to stay calm and follow the instructions of the authorities present on site. Here is a look at what should be done and what to avoid.

Dos

Remain calm and do not panic
Follow the instructions of the authorities present
Ignore unnecessary rumours

Don'ts

Do not create crowds or any other obstructions to movement
Do not obstruct the work of emergency services and first aid workers
Avoid spreading rumours

Residents are advised that this is a mock drill and that there is no danger of any kind.

The last time Delhi witnessed mock drills was during Operation Sindoor in May 2025, which triggered a military standoff between India and Pakistan.

During this, Operation Abhyas, the nationwide mock drill was held across the national capital under the directives of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The exercise was spread across 55 locations and 11 districts to test civilian readiness. Blackout protocols were also implemented across key areas in Delhi such as Connaught Place and Khan Market.
