Goa CM Parsekar says he paid ‘bribe’ for land document

Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar has said he paid a bribe to get a land document 38 years ago, but never got the papers.

Parsekar he was not an MLA and he never got the certified copy of a tenancy order when he bribed a person at a deputy collector’s office.

“I was badly in need of that document. I had decided I would source it from this person only. I did not keep track of how much I must have paid to him,” Parsekar said on Thursday during a function organised to inagurate a SMS-based land records service in Goa.

The chief minister said the incident happened much before he became an MLA. However, he also said that despite running from pillar

to post, he never got that document.

“After that I became MLA. I have not received the order even till date,” he said.
