The body of a 26-year-old woman was found in a bag dumped in a garbage bin in the Baddi industrial area in Solan district, police said on Friday.
The matter came to light when local shopkeepers in the Wardhman Chowk area informed the police of a strong stench emanating from the garbage bin.
The woman has been identified as Nirmala, a resident of Rampur in Uttar Pradesh. She worked in a private company in the area.
The woman shared a rented accommodation with an acquaintance. The person has been missing since incident, police said.
A murder case has been registered at the Baddi police station.
