India Pakistan news highlights: Shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation on Monday about Operation Sindoor carried out against terrorists based in Pakistan, 10 to 12 drones were intercepted in Jammu and Kashmir's Samba. The Hoshiarpur administration in Punjab confirmed that explosions were heard. In his first address to the nation following the launch of Operation Sindoor against Pakistan-based terrorists, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday stated that India will not tolerate any "nuclear blackmail" and said that operations against Pakistan have only been paused, with future actions depending on their behaviour....Read More

Modi also mentioned that while Pakistan requested India to halt the military offensive, New Delhi only considered it after Pakistan promised to cease its provocations.

Referring to the Pahalgam attack as the most "barbaric face of terrorism," the prime minister expressed that it was personally painful for him, but added that the enemy now understands the consequences of "removing sindoor from the forehead of our women."

Meanwhile, the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan concluded their talks for the day on Monday.

Although the hotline conversation was originally scheduled for 12 noon, it began around 5 pm instead. The outcome of the discussion has not yet been disclosed. According to PTI, the two officers are believed to have discussed key elements of the agreement reached on May 10 to halt military operations and cross-border firing.

The Armed Forces on Monday held another comprehensive press briefing on India's ongoing Operation Sindoor and reiterated that India's fight was and will always be aimed at terrorists and terrorists' infrastructure in Pakistan, and not against the country's army.

The army also informed the citizens that all of India's military bases were secured, fully operational and prepared to take on any threat against the country.

Earlier on Sunday, the DGMO also revealed that around 35 to 40 Pakistani Army personnel were killed in artillery and small arms fire exchanges along the Line of Control between May 7 and 10.

Lieutenant General Rajeev Ghai (Director General Military Operations), Vice Admiral A N Pramod (Director General Naval Operations), and Air Marshal A K Bharti (Director General Air Operations) jointly announced the results of "Operation Sindoor."

They also confirmed that the Indian strikes destroyed 11 air bases inside Pakistan and inflicted significant damage on their military capabilities.

Meanwhile, a DGMO-level talk with Pakistan, which was earlier scheduled for noon, will now be held in the evening, PTI reported.

On Saturday, hours after India and Pakistan agreed upon ceasing all hostilities across land, air, and sea on Saturday, Pakistan carried out multiple ceasefire violations. Drones were sighted in several areas of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday night, followed by the sound of explosions.

Reacting to the ceasefire violations, Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri asked Pakistan to deal with the situation with “seriousness” and “responsibility”.
