India Pakistan news highlights: Ceasefire remains intact after multiple drone sightings

Former Chief of Army Staff General Manoj Mukund Naravane said that Operation Sindoor had sent a strong message to Pakistan not to continue its misadventures across the line of control, ANI reported.

Calling it a strategic strike on Pakistan's terror infrastructure, General Narvane added that these actions demonstrated to Pakistan the heavy price of continuing on a path of aggression, ultimately leading to discussions between the Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMO) of both nations on the possibility of a cessation of hostilities.

The Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan are slated to hold high-level talks on Monday regarding the ongoing tension between the two estranged neighbours. The talks will be conducted through the hotline at noon. READ MORE

Former chairman of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) G Satheesh Reddy on Sunday highlighted that Operation Sindoor showcased the country's growing self-reliance in defence technologies, adding that the conflict demonstrated India's capabilities in indigenous technologies and Atmanirbhar-based warfare.

DRDO and industry-developed anti-drone systems played a crucial role in countering the large number of drones used during the conflict. These systems were successfully deployed to neutralise the drone threat.

A 40-year-old beautician from Malwani in Mumbai was booked for her allegedly objectionable social media status on ‘Operation Sindoor’ launched by the Indian armed forces, PTI reported, citing police said on Sunday.

Director General Military Operations (DGMO) Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai, on Sunday, along with colleagues, paid homage to five fallen jawans of the armed forces and civilians who lost their lives due to Pakistani shelling across the Line of Control (LoC). 

He also said that the tensions between India and Pakistan over the last three to four days are no less than a war. 

Director General of Air Operations, IAF, Air Marshal AK Bharti, during the press briefing on Operation Sindoor, said all the Indian Air Force pilot who were involved in the operation are safe and back home.

The Muslim World League (MWL) expressed strong support for the recently announced 'ceasefire agreement' between India and Pakistan.

In an official statement issued by the General Secretariat, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the MWL and Chairman of the Organisation of Muslim Scholars, commended the leadership of both nations for making a wise and responsible decision to prioritise diplomacy and dialogue.

Amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan, Shree Siddhivinayak Temple Trust President Sada Sarvankar said that offering coconut, flowers, and laddu prasad has been prohibited for some time for security reasons, ANI reported.

Sarvankar said that security at the temple is efficient trust is taking all necessary steps to ensure the safety of the devotees.

In a joint press joint press briefing on Sunday, Indian Armed Forces revealed major outcomes of India's Operation Sindoor, launched in the aftermath of the horrific Pahalgam terror attack on April 22 that claimed the lives of 26 innocent civilians.

Lieutenant General Rajeev Ghai (Director General Military Operations), Vice Admiral A N Pramod (Director General Naval Operations), and Air Marshal A K Bharti (Director General Air Operations) jointly announced the results of "Operation Sindoor" -- a cross-border counter-terror operation aimed at neutralising terror infrastructure inside Pakistan.

Amid the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, Maharashtra deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Indian Armed Forces (IAF) are giving a befitting response to Pakistan.

Shinde said this after performing aarti at the ceremony of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's statue in Rajkot along with Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Addressing a press conference along with officials of the air force and navy, Pakistan Army spokesman Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said no Indian pilot was in the custody of Pakistan, and all such reports were based on “fake social media reports”.

He claimed that the military’s response has been “precise, proportionate and still remarkably restrained”.

Director General of Air Operations, IAF, Air Marshal AK Bharti, during a media briefing, said that the Indian armed forces responded in a "quick and calibrated" manner after Indian military installations and civilian areas were targeted following the early May 7 strike on nine terror camps.

Air Marshal AK Bharti on Sunday, while addressing the press briefing on Operation Sindoor, said whatever methods and means the Indian armed forces chose during the operation had the "desired effect" on enemy targets, the objective of "decimating terror camps" was achieved and "all our pilots are back home".

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday chaired a meeting of key ministers and top defence officials to review the security situation, a day after India and Pakistan agreed to stop all hostilities on land, water and air, bringing to an end four days of fierce fighting.

Lieutenant General Rajeev Ghai, Director General Military Operations, said that a DGMO-level talk with Pakistan will be held on Monday at 12 noon.
