"Police arrived within minutes and immediately began life-saving measures," spokesperson Vanessa Munn said. Sethi was subsequently rushed to a hospital but died from his injuries.

Police believe Sethi and the boy who stabbed him knew each other and the killing is being treated as an 'isolated incident', Sgt Timothy Pierotti from the police's Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT), was quoted in the PTI report.

The suspect was apprehended after being identified by witnesses.

The principal said Sethi was not a student at the Tamanawis Secondary School, and that students who saw or feel they have been affected by the act will receive support.

IHIT has called on these students to come forward with any information they may have.
