India's daily Covid infections dip to 11,793, active cases near 100,000-mark

India added 11,793 fresh Covid-19 cases to its overall tally on Tuesday, with the total case count rising to 43,418,839, according to the Union health ministry's dashboard. A day ago, the country saw 17,073 fresh infections, which means that the latest daily rise dipped by a significant 31%.

Meanwhile, as per today's data, there were 9,486 recoveries from the viral illness and 27 deaths due to it in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative tally of recoveries and related fatalities to 42,797,092 and 525, 047, respectively. In the same period, the total number of active cases rose to 96,700, an addition of 2,280 to Monday's figures.

Recoveries, deaths and active patients constitute 98.57%, 1.21% and 0.22% of the overall caseload.

Kerala (3,206), Maharashtra (2,369) and Tamil Nadu (1,461) together accounted for 7,036 or 60 per cent of the new cases. Delhi (628) and Karnataka (617), too, were among the major contributors.

Also, in the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, there has been a jump of 280% in Covid-19 cases.
