On the dawn of Mahalaya, the city of joy celebrated Mother Durga’s homecoming on Tuesday with a gorgeous street ‘alpana’ (Bengali form of floor art), which is being touted as India’s longest such creation.
Mahalaya marks the first day of Dussehra and is celebrated by Bengalis across the world with much fanfare.
More than 400 people came together to create the ‘alpana’ on a 1 Km stretch of Lake Road as part of a corporate initiative.
Several celebrities, including actor Sabyasachi Chakrabarty and Bengali superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee, participated in the celebrations.
Pictures of the ‘alpana’ have made its way to the social media and people are loving it.
