'Why are you calling this mob lynching': New video of Mumbai flat goat ruckus surfaces
Wife of the Muslim man who brought goats in his Mumbai Mira Road flat told someone over the phone that ‘mob lynching’ was happening, a viral video claims.
Amid the massive row over a Muslim family bringing goats to their Mira Road housing society in Mumbai ahead of Eid, a fresh video surfaced on social media claiming that Yasmin, the wife of Mohsin Khan, mentioned the word 'mob lynching' as she spoke over the phone during the ruckus. A ruckus broke out in the housing society on Tuesday night after the residents objected to goats inside Mohsin and Yasmin's flat. The video of goats being taken out of the flat went viral. Now a fresh video of a huge clash between the residents and the Muslim couple is doing the rounds in which the wife said the word 'mob lynching'.
In the new video, residents protested and said Yasmin was spreading lies by saying there was a 'mob lynching'. "See, how they spread lies," the men in the viral video said pointing fingers at Mohsin who was seen wearing a yellow t-shirt, standing behind his wife. Soon the verbal clash turned into a fisticuff.
“Why are you calling this mob lynching? We have all the photos and we are taking videos also,” the men in the video said. “Are you the police?” Mohsin Khan asked during the ruckus.
As the incident snowballed into a major controversy with political leaders weighing in that no slaughtering is allowed anywhere except the designated places as mandated by the Mumbai high court, Mohsin clarified that he had no intention to sacrifice the goats in the society. In an interview to India Today, he said he had to bring the goats in his flat after the builder refused permission to keep the goats at a designated space in the society. Mohsin clarified that every year he brings goats and keeps them at the designated space after obtaining the permission from the builder, but this year the builder asked them to approach the society administration.
Emails between residents and committee surface
In the email exchanges that surfaced on social media after the controversy, the society administration informed the residents that there was no extra space at the premises to keep the livestock. It also mentioned that the society administration won't allow livestock inside the residential apartments. "We insist you to approach JP Infra for the space needed for the purpose as it was for the last three years. We will insist them too," one mail read.
"We approached to JP (Builder) as JP were providing space since last three years and Apex area is still under the control and management of JP. But JP denied our request," the residents' mail read. The residents said they wanted to book a small portion of the banquet hall but received no response either.
JP Infra Housing Societies is the builder of Elara, Estella and Atria housing and Mohsin Khan is a resident of Estella Society where the ruckus took place.
