Punjab and Haryana HC seeks report in abduction case involving Barala kin

The report was sought by high court bench of justice Lisa Gill in a matter in which Barala’s nephew Kuldeep Singh faces allegations.

The Punjab and Haryana high court on Tuesday asked the Haryana government to file a status report in the alleged kidnapping of a minor girl with accused involving a relative of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s state president Subhash Barala.

The report was sought by high court bench of justice Lisa Gill in a matter in which Barala’s nephew Kuldeep Singh faces allegations. The petitioner had demanded a probe by a senior official or independent agency. The HC was hearing a petition by the minor victim’s mother. The report has been sought by August 31.

It was alleged that police was not taking action against the accused persons since some of the accused were relatives of Barala. The petition was filed in June, 2017. As per the petitioner, case was registered in May 2017 for kidnapping of the minor girl from Bidhai Khera village. It was alleged Vikram Singh of the same village had abducted her in conspiracy with Kuldeep Singh and others. The girl was later rescued but threatened by accused persons for not naming them. It was also alleged that in April, 2017, Vikram had raped her.
