Six Bihar villagers gang rape minor, film crime on mobile, circulate video
One of the accused has been arrested after father of the victim lodged an FIR over the incident on Tuesday night
A minor girl was gang raped in Bihar’s Bhojpur district by six villagers, who also filmed the crime and circulated the video on a WhatsApp group, police said.
The incident occurred on January 31 but came to the light on Tuesday night when the victim’s father, who works in Kolkata, returned to the village and lodged an FIR with the women police station at Ara, 55 km west of state capital Patna.
In his complaint, the victim’s father said six men had gang raped his daughter when she went out to relieve herself in a field in Barhara police station area of the district, filmed the act with a mobile phone and posted the video clip on a WhatsApp group.
Ara women police station SHO Poonam Kumari said the medical examination of the 14-year-old girl, a student of Class 8, was conducted at the sadar hospital on Tuesday night.
The station house officer (SHO) said one of the accused, Krishna Yadav, had been arrested. Raids were on to arrest the other five accused, she said.
This is the second such incident in Bhojpur district since December. A seven-year- old girl was gangraped and killed by her co-villager when she had gone out to relieve herself in Tarari police station area on December 21.
