After one person died of cerebral malaria on Wednesday, health officials collected blood samples from 172 patients in the area, the sources said.
While five samples tested positive, "we are waiting reports of the others," district Civil Surgeon Nagendra Prasad Singh told reporters.
A medical camp has been set up at Kisko Block, under which Ghorgairua village falls.
In another move with the onset of monsoon, security personnel engaged in anti-Naxal operation across the state were being given mosquito nets and repellent creams as preventive measures, CRPF sources said.
