10 killed in Punjab road accident

At least 10 people were killed and 25 injured when two buses collided in Barnala district of Punjab, police said.

At least 10 people were killed and 25 injured when two buses collided in Barnala district of Punjab, police said on Saturday.

A state-run bus was going towards Faridkot from Barnala, about 150 km from Chandigarh, when its driver took a sharp turn to save a two-wheeler rider. He hit a private mini bus coming from the opposite direction on Friday night.

Police said the accident occurred near Cheema Jodhpur village. The two-wheeler driver escaped unhurt.

The dead included a woman, Senior Superintendent of Police Shiv Kumar told IANS. Six of the 25 injured were in critical condition.
