11 killed in mishap in Andhra Pradesh

As many as 11 people, including three students and a DSP were killed and 12 others injured when a bus in which they were travelling rammed into a stationary lorry in Andhra Pradesh’s Kurnool district on Sunday morning, police said.

As many as 11 people, including three students and a DSP were killed and 12 others injured when a bus in which they were travelling rammed into a stationary lorry in Andhra Pradesh’s Kurnool district this morning, police said.

The incident occurred at around 4.30 am when the speeding bus, on its way to Kadapa with 26 passengers onboard, hit the parked lorry near Allagadda in the district, sub-divisional police officer (Allagadda) Ganapathi Rao told PTI over phone.

“The left portion of the bus was totally damaged and some of the passengers were crushed,” he said.

Seven persons were killed on the spot while four others died while undergoing treatment.

The deceased include three engineering students, two women and a Deputy Superintendent of Police identified as Reddy Giri.

A case has been registered against the bus driver, who fled the spot, they added.
