12 killed, over 35 injured in bus accident in Doda

At least 12 people are killed and over 35 injured as a passenger bus skids off the road and plunge into Chenab.

At least 12 people were killed and over 35 injured when a passenger bus skidded off the road and plunged into Chenab river in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, police said.

Rescue teams have recovered the dead and the injured from the bus which had not completely submerged in the river and got stuck up on the side of the river after falling down from the road near Prem Nagar, 187-kms from Jammu, at 09.30 am on Thursday, said senior superintendent of police, Doda Manohar.

Twelve people died on the spot and over 35 were injured in the accident, some of them seriously, he said adding that all the injured were immediately rushed to local hospital for treatment.

Of the injured, 10 have been airlifted to Jammu for further treatment in government medical college hospital, he said.
