"I have never come across such a case in which a minor has been so brutally raped. Her private parts had been seriously injured and she had bled profusely, because of which she went into a shock. On Saturday, we treated her private parts and head injuries. She has also suffered internal head injuries and is in light coma. Her condition continues to be critical but she is mildly responding to pain due to pinching. But we can't say at the moment whether she will survive or not. We have also conducted MRI of her head. We are trying our best to save the girl," said Prof KS Budhwani, head of paediatric surgery at GMC while talking to HT.

The incident shocked the people of the district. Residents of Sagar staged a protest on Saturday and blocked a road, demanding immediate arrest of the accused.
