“151 tourists, among which 96 are foreigners, who have been stranded at different locations of the district in and around Kaza town from the last one to two days have been brought to Kaza town safely,” said Superintendent of Police, Lahaul and Spiti district, S.R. Rana.

Rana said that the administration is in contact with all the tourists. They are safe and are being provided medical facilities in Kaza town, he said.

“Among the 96 foreign tourists, most are from Israel while others are reportedly citizens of Germany, France, Britain, Italy, U.S. and Netherlands,” said Rana, adding that among domestic tourists, 25 are from Maharashtra and 17 are from West Bengal.

Reports reveal that Spiti valley is closed for traffic. Work is on to clear the landslides and the highways will be re-opened, hopefully, by Wednesday, said Rana.
