17 of a family get life term

A FAST-TRACK court in Guna district sentenced 17 members of a family to life imprisonment in a murder case on Friday. A fine of Rs 4,300 was also imposed on each of them.

A FAST-TRACK court in Guna district sentenced 17 members of a family to life imprisonment in a murder case on Friday. A fine of Rs 4,300 was also imposed on each of them.

They were convicted of the murder that took place on October 31, 2005, in Sirsi Kalan village in Guna district. Additional Session Judge Naveen Saxena awarded the punishment.

According to prosecution, all the 17 accused had killed Govinda, son of Gopal Singh Raghuwanshi, and injured six others over a dispute on a electric transformer at Sirsi Kalan. Initially, a murder case was registered against 35 persons at Bajranggarh police station and after an inquiry the police booked 17 persons in the case.
