196 sensitive polling stations in Guwahati

At least 196 out of 1,772 polling stations of Gauhati parliamentary constituency have been declared 'very sensitive' and 506 as 'sensitive' for the Lok Sabha polls, election officials said today.

At least 196 out of 1,772 polling stations of Gauhati parliamentary constituency have been declared 'very sensitive' and 506 as 'sensitive' for the Lok Sabha polls, election officials said today.

Returning officer R C Jain who is also Kamrup (Rural) district Deputy Commissioner told reporters here that remaining 1,070 polling stations were "comparatively safe".

The Kamrup Metropolitan Election District comprising Gauhati East and West, Dispur and Jalukbari, together have 11 'very sensitive' and 141 'sensitive' polling stations, he said.

The highest number of 'very sensitive' polling stations is in Chaygaon, with 57, while Dudhnoi has the highest 'senstitive' stations, with 81, he said.

Dispur, the seat of state governance where Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is registered
as a voter, has the highest number of compartively safe stations of 224.

Video camera will be used during the polls and even CCTV in some areas of Guwahati metro area as decided by observers, he said.
