The girl and her friend, both from outside Rajasthan, were trapped by the accused on March 7 evening when they were on a motorcycle.

The accused, Jaikumar and Mohanlal, who had lost their jobs in the RAC in 2007 for involvement in criminal activities, stopped their bike by pretending to be police officials. "Jaikumar and Mohanlal reportedly asked for the bike's registration papers and instructed them to come to a police outpost. Later, they took the students to a lonely place on Rawatbhata road, where they allegedly raped the girl," said Kota city deputy superintendent of police Paras Jain. The accused beat up the girl's friend when he tried to fight them. The police have arrested Mohanlal, but Jaikumar is still at large.
