Two women were killed on the spot and 13 others injured when a speeding bus overturned near Lalpur village in Bihar's Samastipur district today, police said.

The accident took place when the driver of the bus lost control over the vehicle which suddenly overturned, SP VK Sinha said.

Rekha Devi (65) and Ahilya Devi (60), both residents of Ali village of Darbhanga district, were killed on the spot.

The bus was on its way to Samastipur from Bahera in Darbhanga carrying devotees to assemble at a function of Ardh Kumbh at Simariyaghat, Sinha said.
