Deepak Yaidande, a resident of Sassoon complex in Colaba, also allegedly beat up the driver and threatened to kill him, if he complained.

Senior Inspector Yasmeen Inamdar, Colaba police station, said Yaidande hired a taxi near Sassoon Docks on Sunday night and told the driver to take him to Chhatrapati Shivaji Ter-minus.

The driver, in his complaint, said when they passed Colaba Causeway, Yaidande told him to take a U-turn.

He told the driver to take him to Badhwar Park and stop the cab near his house.

“Yaidande asked about the fare and told the driver to accompany him to his house to collect the fare as he was out of money,” said Inamdar.

Then, Yaidande allegedly took the driver to the terrace of a building in G-8 block and sexually assaulted him.

“Yaidande told the victim that he had the taxi’s number and would track him down and kill him if he lodged a complaint,” said Inamdar.

The victim filed a complaint at 1 am on Monday. Yaidande, who works for a private company in Lower Parel, was arrested on Monday morning.

He was produced before a court and remanded to police custody for five days.

“Based initial investigations, it appears that Yaidande was under the influence of alcohol. He was sent for an alcohol test,” added Inamdar.
