The accused have been identified as Mukesh Verma, the owner of a tour and travel company, and Rajender Kumar. They were produced before a local court on Saturday and have been sent to a 14-day judicial custody.
The incident came to light on Friday when the victim Surender Kumar’s family received a call from the accused men who demanded Rs 2 lakh for his safe release.
A few days ago, Mukesh, for whose company Surender worked as a supervisor, had accused him of cheating Rs 2 lakh. Surender was fired from the job at that time, but was called to rejoin after a few days.
On Thursday evening, Mukesh along with Rajender locked the victim in the office and thrashed him with iron rods, said a police official.
The police said Surender had suffered multiple injuries on his chest, hands and back. After assaulting him, Mukesh called up his family and demanded Rs 2 lakh from them.
It was only then that the victim’s uncle informed the Sector 14 police station.
The police rescued the victim on Friday and arrested the accused.
