3,862 houses to come up for poor in Rohtak, Sirsa, Ambala

Under the scheme, 3,862 houses would be constructed at a cost of Rs 250 crore in the three towns.
Thanking union housing and poverty alleviation minister Girija Vyas, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Hooda said that the country was moving forward with better urbanisation in the present scenario.
He said that under the scheme, 1,518 houses would be constructed in Rohtak at a cost of Rs 95.89 crore. Of which the union government would share Rs 47.94 crore.
In Sirsa, of Rs 94.99 crore which would be spent on construction of 2,144 houses, Rs 44.81 crore would be borne by union government and remaining `50.18 crore by the Haryana government.
Similarly, a sum of Rs 59.83 crore would be spent on construction of 200 houses in Ambala, Rs 29.91 crore would be borne by the union government and similar amount by the state government. Foundation stones of these projects would be laid soon, he said.
Hooda said that the concept of slum free India had been designed under the Rajiv Awas Yojna. Apart from developing slums in an integrated manner in towns, new affordable houses would be built under the scheme.
