A government spokesman said minister for roads and buildings Abdul Majid Wani dedicated the bridges to people of the Valley on the national highway bypass connecting Pantha-Chowk with Baramulla national highway, incurring a cumulative amount of Rs 26.75 crore.

The three bridges constructed at Lasjan, Padshahi Bagh and the Chhanpora Bypass road in Srinagar will facilitate people to travel from all the parts of the Valley to Jammu and other parts of the country.

"The five-span bridge at Lasjan of length 17.80 km has been completed at a cost of Rs 16.50 crore. The bridge dedicated to former minister late GM Mir Lasjan," said the spokesman.

The adjoining portion of land of the bridge would be developed and landscaped by Mir Lasjan Trust in association with the Jehlum Construction Company.

"The Padshahi Bagh Bridge has been constructed at an amount of Rs 3 crore, while Rs 7.25 crore has been spent on the completion of Chhanpora Bypass Bridge," informed the spokesman.

The official quoted the minister saying that the government had taken in hand projects of roads, building and bridges to extend better facilities to people in the last four years.

He said most of the projects had been completed and several others were in pipeline. He said many more proposals are under consideration for giving a new look to the uncovered areas of the state.
