3 more hostels on DDU campus

STATE GOVERNMENT has sanctioned a grant of Rs 4 crore for the construction of two new hostels for other backward class (OBC) students at DDU Gorakhpur University.

Meanwhile, University Grant Commission has also directed university administration to send a proposal for construction of another hostel with investment of Rs 1 crore. University authority has been directed to send the proposal to UGC by December 15.

With the construction of three more hostels in the university campus, the residential problem faced by the students will be resolved up to some extent.

State government has allocated funds to backward class welfare department for construction of the hostel. Social welfare department will construction these hostels.

According to a report, the university administration has constituted a committee to make a proposal in accordance to the directive of the UGC for a separate hostel.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Arun Kumar has expressed hope that construction of these hostels, more students would be accommodated in these hostels and the academic atmosphere would also improve.

Sources claim that university administration has also started its preparation for convocation programme in first week of January next year and a proposal was sent to the Governor to fix the schedule.

THE STUDENT leaders are mounting pressure on university administration for smooth running of the classes and to maintain academic atmosphere in the campus.

Following Munna Bhai ideology, about a dozen students and supporters of students leaders Pradeep Singh Sahjanwa took out a procession under the leadership of Sudip Singh, Kisan Singh and KN Singh and presented roses to the HoD of various departments and chief proctor VK Pandey.

They demanded Pandey to cooperate for creating an academic atmosphere and regular classes in the campus.
