Amar Singh, Amrish Siddhu and Akash Siddhu have been charged in a number of extortion and robbery cases in Thane and Mumbai, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Detection) Dhananjay Kamalakar.

On Wednesday, the Crime Branch received a tip-off that Singh and Amrish would be visiting Masjid Bunder to collect a ransom. They laid a trap and arrested the duo. The officials also seized an unlicenced loaded country-made pistol.

During interrogation, the duo revealed the role of Akash and that that they were out on bail in three robbery and extortion cases of 2005.

They added that they were working for Rajan’s lieutenant Raghu Shetty, who is in jail.

On September 25, the trio, armed with guns, barged into a finance and commodity exchanger’s office in Kalyan (West) and demanded ‘protection money’. A case has been registered with the Mahatma Phule police station.
