The desert state goes to the polls on May 5.

Rajasthan's Chief Electoral Officer Lalit Kothari said three observers had been appointed for each of the parliamentary constituency.

While two observers would keep an eye on the electoral work, the third official would maintain details of the expenditure, he said.

The Election Commission has asked the observers to keep a strict vigil from the time of filing of nomination papers by the candidates till the completion of the entire election procedure in their respective areas.

The commission has directed the observers to ensure fair and peaceful elections, check the affidavits filled by the candidates and watch the details of election expenditure ensuring that they are within the ceiling fixed for the purpose.

The observers have also been instructed to ensure that candidates comply with the code of conduct and directions issued by the commission from time to time.
