Reacting to the arrest of eight foreigners in Chauntra village in Mandi, official sources said, "They are Taiwanese nationals and this is a case of overstay." They also said that in such cases the "legal conclusion is deportation."

However, given the sensitivity of the matter and their nationality, they will be interrogated to ascertain the facts, the sources said.

In a major crackdown, police arrested eight foreigners on charges of overstaying after raiding a fortified monastery in Mandi district last night and claimed to have recovered Rs.30 lakh, US$ 3000 and SIM cards.
