8 more colleges attached

MCD attached the bank accounts of eight colleges who had house tax of more than a crore rupees outstanding against them.

Continuing with its tough drive to collect the pending house tax from its defaulters, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi on Thursday attached the bank accounts of Deshbandhu college and Dayal Singh College who had house tax of more than a crore rupees outstanding against them.

While the Deshbandhu College in Kalkaji had property tax arrears of Rs 69.43 lakh against it, Dayal Singh College of Lodhi road has Rs 68 lakh of pending property tax arrears. The MCD has also attached the bank account of owner of another property No 98 in Nehru Place against which Rs 32 lakh were outstanding as property tax.

The MCD action comes close on the heels of the MCD last week attaching the bank accounts of Hansraj College (house tax arrears: Rs 59 lakh), St Stephen’s College (Rs 42.2 lakh arrears), Hindu college (Rs 20 lakh), Shri Ram College of Commerce (Rs 49 lakh) and Kirorimal college (Rs 47 lakh).
