84 riot victims demand justice
MEMBERS OF the Sikh community and victims of 1984 riots handed over their application forms to district magistrate Dr Hariom for compensation. Local MLA Dr RMD Agrawal said the anti-Sikh riot was a black chapter in the history of democratic India as the Sikh community had sacrificed lives and provided incomparable services in security of India. The MLA said that even after 23 years, riot victims had not get justice. He said time had come when compensation should be provided to the victims.

The MLA said that even after 23 years, riot victims had not get justice. He said time had come when compensation should be provided to the victims. He claimed that he had raised the issue in the Assembly and the State government had directed district magistrates to step up the exercise to distribute compensation among the victim families.
President of Purvanchal Sikh Pratinidhi Board Sardar Balveer Singh said around 50 anti-Sikh riot victims had submitted their application and it was the duty of the administration to provide them compensation.
