Superintendent of Police Supratim Sarkar said that the nine were arrested from Kapasdanga village after the district administration lodged a complaint against them.

Sarkar said the Trinamool Congress and Congress had submitted a list of Bangladeshis, whose names figured in the voters list to EC Observer N SivaSailam during his visit to the district.

The EC Observer investigated the matter and had instructed the direct administration to lodge a police complaint against the Bangladeshis.

On February 8, seven Bangladeshis, whose names figured in the voters' list of the district, were arrested from Inchura village in Balagarh block on the orders of Sivasailam.

Altogether 19 observers despatched by the Election Commission supervised the revision of electoral rolls in West Bengal from February 1-8.
