The manner in which the news channels reported Mahajan’s last rituals was in poor taste. They should exercise restraint and be mindful of the sensitivities of the viewers. The overdrive of coverage for the man who obliged them when he was alive lacked grace.

Selfish RWAs

Apropos of the report RWAs divided at MCD meet (May 3), like other elected bodies, many people use muscle- and money-power to get elected to RWAs to carry on with their vested interests.

They do not represent the interests of the residents. The government should find out how many RWAs are involved in illegal activities.

Poor politics

Why is the government so soft on terrorists in Kashmir? While it is so concerned about the Vadodara incidents, it is mum on the Doda massacre. Is that attack not as bad, if not worse? How long can we tolerate such prejudiced politics?

Powerless cities

The editorial A dim future (May 3), rightly states that the collective anger of the residents over long hours of power-cuts could well spark street protests.

The Centre should seriously look into this problem and take appropriate action. It is a matter of shame that the government is sitting idle on reform measures.

The power and water situation in Delhi has remained consistently bad for many years now. Politicians make false promises year after year and citizens hope things will improve year after year. It’s an amazing cycle.
