Aamir, one of the most sought after stars in Hindi cinema, reportedly sued Filmfare for Rs.210 million ($4.7 million) for showing him as wanting to get the "Lady in Black" - a reference to the award trophy, television reports said.

Filmfare had used the names and photographs of several actors in its advertisement campaign in the run-up to the awards function.

Aamir, however, is said to have avoided attending any film awards function in the past few years.
